Inspirational Invictus

Yesterday I curled up on the lounge and watched the Inspirational Invictus Games. I am so utterly in awe of these amazing individuals. Their stories, what they have gone through is so utterly unimaginable.

Yesterday HRH Prince Harry beseeched the crowd at the opening ceremony with these important words:

“But now I have a mission for all of you Aussies. And it’s not how many shrimps you can put on the barbie! Our competitors have made it to these games, most of them travelling from many thousands of miles away. It’s your job to cheer them on and share their stories. It’s your privilege to watch in the stands or with your friends and families around the television. It’s your responsibility to make sure your children know how amazing these guys and girls really are.

Be inspired. Get excited. Allow the example of service and determination you will see, to change something big or small in your own lives.

Show the world what Game On, Down Under really means.”

Let’s do our bit. Humans want to be seen and heard. They have wonderful stories, they want to do their countries proud and they want to live their lives so well and they want to shower their families with gratitude. A notable mention this weekend was also the football match between Australia and Tonga. The singing, the atmosphere, the sense of community had one commentator commenting it was like church. The way the crowd sang both national albums and the collective joy – the communal energy would have been something to experience!

Back to Invictus, Here are some links to incredible stories.

The story of Jamie Tanner

The stories that Beyond Blue recorded:

The day Wippa from Nova wept when he met Craig McGrath.

Share on your socials, watch on streaming or on your tele, you support will mean eyeballs and awareness and more Invictus in the future. At the micro level, it will mean so much for a survivor, and that their service and sacrifice has impacted their fellow citizens.

Give us more of these humans on our tv’s and streaming services – Let them be lauded, applauded, seen on every available platform. These human beings are the true inspiration and gift to our world.

Until next week

Andy
