Women with Altitude ("WWA", "we", "us") knows that sharing your personal information is an act of trust, and we take that seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Depending on how you engage with us, we may collect:
You can contact us without giving your name, but we'll usually need your details to provide a membership, event ticket or course.
We collect personal information directly from you when you join as a member, buy a ticket or course, enter or sponsor the Altitude Awards, subscribe to our newsletter, fill in a form, attend an event, or contact us. We also collect some information automatically through cookies and analytics tools on our website (see below). Sometimes we receive information from a third party, such as a person who nominates you for an award or a partner running an event with us.
We use your personal information to:
We only use your information for the purpose we collected it for, a related purpose you would reasonably expect, or with your consent. We do not sell your personal information.
We often take photos and videos at our events and may use them on our website, social media and in Brave magazine. We'll let you know when photography is happening. If you'd rather not appear, just tell our team on the day or email us, and we'll do our best to leave you out or remove the image.
We share personal information only as needed to run WWA, with:
These providers may only use your information to deliver their service to us.
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia. Your information is likely to be held in the United States (MembershipWorks, Stripe), the European Union (Brevo) and New Zealand (Xero), and may be held in other countries where these providers run their servers. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.
We'll only send you marketing emails or SMS if you've agreed to receive them, or if the law allows it because of our existing relationship. Every message identifies WWA and includes an easy way to unsubscribe. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link, replying STOP to an SMS, or emailing info@womenwithaltitude.com.au. We'll action your request as soon as possible, and always within 5 working days. You may still receive essential messages about your membership, bookings or payments.
Our website uses cookies and similar tools to make the site work, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use it (for example through Google Analytics). We may also use social media pixels to show relevant content on those platforms. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work properly without them.
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We don't see or store your full card details. If we suspect a fraudulent transaction, we may share relevant details with Stripe, your bank or the appropriate authorities.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, changes or disclosure. This includes using reputable, secure platforms, limiting access to people who need it, and requiring our team and contractors to keep information confidential. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it, including to meet legal requirements (for example, financial records are kept for 7 years). After that, we securely delete it or de-identify it.
You can help by keeping your account password private. Please tell us straight away if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll let you know and tell you what steps to take. Where required, we'll also report it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
We don't use computer programs to make decisions about you that significantly affect your rights or interests without a person being involved. Decisions about membership, awards and complaints are made by our team.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@womenwithaltitude.com.au. Members can also update most of their details directly in their member account. We'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge for making a request. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll explain why.
Our services are for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you think we've collected a child's information by mistake, please contact us and we'll delete it.
Our website and publications may link to other websites, including those of members and sponsors. We don't control those sites, and their own privacy policies apply. Please check them before sharing your personal information.
If you have a question or concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. Tell us what happened and how you'd like it resolved. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and aim to respond in full within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
We review this policy from time to time and will post any updates on this page with a new "last updated" date. If we make a significant change to how we use your information, we'll let members know by email.
